Rediscovering code

After a really! long time I’ve started dabbling with some code again. A little bit at work and a little on a side project.

It’s mostly front end and it’s with two technologies. In both cases, I had no prior knowledge of working with those technologies but I jumped right in anyways.

I learned a few things in the process:

  • I really enjoy coding. I get a lot of satisfaction seeing something come to life or fixing things.
  • Coding can be very creative. From the million different ways you can do things to all the problem solving you have to do, there’s lots of ways to be creative when you code.
  • There’s lots of learning involved with coding. There’s always lots of new things coming out to experiment with and learn from.
  • As a designer, I really enjoy being hands on with my design. You really get a feel for your design while you’re making it come to life and can make changes on the fly.
  • I refresh the screen a lot! Like woody after every line of code I wrote. I like to getting the immediate feedback everytime I make a change. If I could get paid for every time I press refresh, I’d be set to retire.

It’s easy to get so busy these days and not have time for anything. I’m glad I found this passion of mine againand hope to keep up with it.
